Expert Tool Problem 1

Hello all,
This is what I have and the problem that I'm having.Gainward's tech support doesn't seem to be helping me out,although they do respond to my e-mails.

GAINWARD GeFORCE4 POWERPACK ULTRA/650-8X XP GOLDEN SAMPLE
WINDOWS XP HOME OEM with SP1
INTEL P4 2.53GHz 533MHzFSB
SOYO P4X400 DRAGON ULTRA PLATINUM
512MB Pc2700 DDR RAM

Problem:EXPERT TOOL

WHY DOES THE ENHANCED MODE SETTING REVERT BACK TO SAFE MODE EVEN
THOUGH THE CHECK BOX "RUN THIS PROGRAM EACH TIME WINDOWS STARTS" IS
CHECKED?I ALSO CHECK THE "ENABLE MAXIMUM CLOCK SETTINGS" BOX AND THIS TOO
REVERTS BACK.IN BOTH CASES I DO HIT THE APPLY BUTTON. ALSO,EVERY TIME I
CLICK ON THE DESKTOP OR MONITOR TAB,THE COMPUTER SCREEN GOES BLACK AND I
HAVE TO DO A REBOOT?
In every case the Expert Tool icon is in the task bar when I reboot,but does not return after the bootup is complete.

I'm currently running V3.03 which came with the card.The enhanced mode
reverts back to the safe mode settings every time windows is rebooted,even
when the check boxes are checked or unchecked.I tried it both ways.I tried
uninstalling and reinstalling including going to regedit to eliminate any
referance to the video card or software.I also uninstalled and reinstalled
the card itself,physically and through the device manager.Same problem.

I keep downloading version 3.04 but if fails to install every time,even when downloaded from different mirror sites. Norton antivirus is disabled thru all of this process,and there appears to be nothing else running in the
background except what is neccessary.

I have a similar setup on one of my systems.Clearly the expert tool is loading and then unloading due to some conflict/corruption. This could also explain the inability to install the later version. I would uninstall the expert tool and make sure you update your Nvidia detonator to the latest WHQL version 41.04. With these Detonator drivers you do not need most of the features of Expert Tool for occing your card (They Are Built in).
The Guru.3D site is an excellent site to not only get the different versions of drivers and utilities (Riva Tuner,Detonator destroyer,NVRefresh Tool etc.) but also has excellent forums that cover a wide range of topics and solutions.

Another long shot suggestion
Goto DXDIAG then click the Display tab. Disable Direct Draw Acceleration, Direct3D Acceleration, and AGP Texture Acceleration.
Restart.
Then Enable them.
Reinstall the latest version of Expert Tool.

Thanks Snakeyeskm.I finally was able to install Expert Tool,but I still had the same problem.I uninstalled it and am running the 41.04,and using the features from Nivida.Much better.Great forum site also.Thanks again.

For additional flexibility try RivaTuner it should work on your system. You can download it from the same site under 'Utilities'
