Hey all,

Having an issue where an expansion ATM module is periodically getting all of the trunks stuck in the "Clearing" state. It is resolved on reboot, but the trunks are unavailable during this time. Using 5.0(8) Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

What does Monitor say when this happens...anything unusual?

It seems to be very random, say once a month, so I'm not usually running the monitor when it happens. I find out later when I see it has been in the clearing state for several days. We do have and internal ATM4 on the same system that does not exhibit this behavior. So I am less inclined to think it's a phone provider issue. I'm wondering if there are some config tweaks I can do.

It also seems that it happens to all of the trunks (we're using 4) at around the same time.

saw this around 4.1 similarly the internal card was fine but the atm module frequently locked ports and needed rebooting. speak to the provider, find out what their disconnect clear time is and set yours to 150ms less than theirs under the lines tab.

Thanks for the disconnect clear suggestion. Lowering it ultimately fixed the problem at multiple sites. It seems that providers, especially cable providers and those using channel banks can be temperamental

perhaps, it seemed to be intermittent to me, it would work fine for a week then hang, reboot, hang again, reboot, hang again, reboot all in the space of a few hours.

Setting the disconnect clear correctly was the only solid fix, on the upside it did convince that customer to swap to an isdn30.

glad its sorted.
