Good day to all,

I turned on my computer today and got the following message Object name Not Found - Isass.exe. This prevents the computer from successfully booting up. Could I just expand this file from the installation CD? And if so what source and destination must I use with the expand command in the Recovery Console? If someone could write down the exact command for me I would be very greatful.

Thanks
Liam

Hit F8 when booting and select last known good ?

I would do a last known good first, it is only 3 keystrokes ;-)

I tried both the Last Know Good and the Repair Install and am still bak to where I started. Any other ideas?

Liam

See... "Method 4: Use Expand.exe in the Recovery Console" from the following article.

How to expand Windows XP files from the installation disk

An easy to follow recovery console description when unable to start computer due to corrupt registry.

This is a layman's version of Q307545 in simple language.

This may offer a way of saving data.

Finally a clean install and format is an option (of sorts?).
