We have a bunch of other 2003 servers in the office that do not have this issue, but for some reason this new one is giving me problems.

Don't ask what it is done this way, as I don't agree with it, but when we install software, it is installed on the terminal server to a mapped drive on another machine. For example, on the TS, there is an "F:" drive that is mapped to "C:" on another computer. When you install software on the TS, it is installed to "F:". This hasn't caused any problems until this specific server. When I install the softare to "F:" it installs fine. When I try to run the software, I get a prompt asking me if I am sure I want to download the file. Almost as if it were on the internet. If I install it to "C:" it works fine. Normally I can just click open and the software runs, but since this is going to be a terminal server, I can't ask the employees to click open every time they start Word. I have no idea what is causing this. I assume it is some sort of security setting, maybe in IE relating to the local intranet, but I can't figure out how to get rid of it. I tried reinstalling, and that did nothing. Is this some wierd version of 2003 server? My other servers I set up don't have this problem. Thanks!!!

Alright, here's the fix...

This is actually an IE message you're receiving. To fix this you need to go to Internet Explorer and follow the below steps...

1. Tools
2. Internet Options
3. Security
4. Choose Local Intranet and click on the sites button
5. Add the server name that the executable resides on in the following format "File://servername"

This will add the server to your trusted sites and allow all programs/downloads to occur without user interaction.

I don't know why that is suddenly an issue (recent windows update, maybe??) but aquias' info fixed it. Thanks!!!!

I'm glad it helped! That lil bugger kept me jumping for about a week when I first hit it.
