execute sub

I wonder if there is a way to execute two subroutines simultaneously.

Fot example while making a connection to a server
print some messeges
and when the connection is made ,
stop printing

or while copying files
play a video
and when the copy is done
stop playing video

Any ideas?
 
fork is your friend

you can probaly interact with ps or tasklist, but were it I, I'd probably write a temporary file, put the process to sleep/run, and exit by killing the subtask, and then the temp file, onstart=check4existingfiles & warn (Exist)
