Hello,

I've got Exchange 2003. I have 2 different email addresses attached to my exchange account:

my.name@domain.com
my.name@mail.domain.com

I want the default to be: my.name@domain.com. I change it to the default in Exchange, but when I open up Outlook, it switches back to the previous default of @mail.domain.com. It just started this yesterday. I'm clueless as to what is wrong. Each domain is listed in the recipients policy. Any ideas?

Not certain but it may be a polciy in place. on the active directory email addess tab have you tried taking the tick off of automatically update email based on recipent policy?

Don't disable "Automatically update email addresses" check box. You'll kick yourself later for doing it.

In the Default recipient policy, select the address you want to be primary. The default address is listed in bold. You should see 1 x.400 and 2 SMTP. Just change the default SMTP. After you click OK, then right-click on the policy and choose "Apply this policy now". Within a couple of hours all the email addresses in your organization should change.

If you turn of the automatic update checkbox then you will not be able to control users' email addresses through policies in the future. You will have to manually edit each user.
