When creating a new user in AD Users and Computers and directing it to create a mailbox as well, it seems that our exchange server never gets the info. Everything goes through successful and it shows that the user has an Exchange Storage group on our Exchange server, but only in Users and Computers. If we look on Exchange, the box never gets created, and the e-mail addresses tab never gets filled on which the recipient policy would normally do. Obviously if you open outlook, it never connects either. Usually when we created a new user, the email box is created within minutes, now it's not doing it at all. I've updated policies and done everything I can think of. The user can log in fine, but for whatever reason, Exchange does get the information needed. I'm thinking it's something to do with the Domain Controller, because it's happening on both our exchange servers at 2 different locations. Email for everyone else, is functioning without a problem. Only thing that changed this weekend, is we upgraded IE to version 6.0 on both the DC and Exchange. Although I can't see how it has anything to do with it. Any help woiuld be great. thanks

After you created the mailbox, did you send an email to it to activate the box?

An email to activate the box? No, we've never done that before. Besides, the name isn't in the global address list to send one too. It won't show up in the GAL until Exchange has created a box.

The box won't show up in SM until an email has been sent to it or the user has accessed it.

Manually create the SMTP address and see what happens.

Hi ZRacer03,

We are using Exchange 2000.

I have exactly the same problem as yours. Before, I used to create new user by just copying existing one and everything else are copied--of course you need to change the name and login.

However, lately when I do the same procedure it will NOT create the attributes/properties of the copied user. The e-mail tab is not created--you have to create it manually. Worst, it is not added to Global Address even after you update RUS or after many days.

What is interesting though is that you can still access it using Web Outlook.

However, when you first setup the MS Outlook at the user's workstation it will not allow you to setup successfully. It keeps on asking the UserID, Domain, and Password.

If anybody out there can give us solution to this problem--it is greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Bless You

Yeah we finally figured it out yesterday by running an update on the Enterprise Update Recipient Service. Could take a few hours depending on the domain and amount of users. Updated it overnight, rebooted it for safe measure and it was fine the next morning.

Correct that.. A simple updated didn't work for us, we ran a rebuild on the update service. Either way, worked great.

if the recipient update doesn't work restarting the system attendant service gives it a good kick

(one side effect tho, has to restart the information store as well)

Thank you all you guys for the reply...Unfortunately nothing worked. We have already rebooted our exchange server for several times and nothing has happened. Done the Update/Rebuild nothing happened also.

I noticed also that sometimes our e-mail stopped working but our Internet is still on--when we reboot our system it is all back.

Also, our Exchange Server is 2000 SP3--we will try to update it to SP4 and see what happens. Any feedback to SP4 update is highly appreciated.

Thanks +++
