hi
i have 2 exchange server 2003 under the same domain , one active the other no user mailbox, now is it possible to keep the two exchange server in mailbox sync so that i can make either the active one by making a dns change

thanks

ok
in that case how do i restore backup from my main exchange to the standby (backup made by ntbackup)and move the mailbox accross after the restore, currently its not letting me restore my main exchange server onto my standby server.
first of all is it possible to restore to anoter exchange server

thanks

Yes. The stand by server should have the same name as the primary server but must not be joined to the domain. When needed you will have to reset the Exchange computer account and up the stand by server (this assumes the production Exchange server is not running). Then join the new Exchange server to the domain. The OS should have the same SP and hotfixes applied. Next start the install of exchange using the /disasterrecovery switch. This will pull all the exchange related data from AD and re-install Exchange the same way it was on the original priduction server. Next apply all Exchange SP and hotfixes. Finally restore the mailbox/public folder data from backup. There are many good KB articules on MS website. Good Luck.
