We currently have a Excahnge 2K SMTP box that is a stand alone. We want to put a SMTP boxes in our DMZ but having a hard time deciding between using IIS or Exchange 2003....?

Anyone have any information on what each IIS/Exchange can bring to the table and maybe help us better determine which platform to us.....

Thanks

What do you want to achieve?

Sending emails - IIS (free with OS)
Front end Exchange for OWA - Exchange

We have decided on IIS SMTP for our Gateway servers that will be located in the DMZ.
It is more secure but we will be unable to view the queues. I located a tool that will work with window 2000 server but not 2003.

The queues in IIS are in c:\inetpub\mailroot\queues

It isn't any more or less secure if done right.
