Dear Forum users I have the following strange problem. I have Exchange 2000 SP3 on a Windows 2000 Server SP4 with the latest updates.

Starting from yesterday Exchange is not working properly. Client connecting with Outlook 2003 using MAPI protocol are working ok (send, receive ok both for intra-domain and external mail). Clients connecting with Outlook express with POP3 protocol are unable to access the server. The error they get is

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible cause include server problems, network problems.... Protocol POP3, Port: 995, Secure SSL: Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

I've consulted the server Event Viewer and I get a lot of errors: under Application Log section I get

Event ID: 1051
Source: POP3SVC
Unexpected error condition: call to function CEncryptCtx::CheckServerCert() resulted in error code 0x800cc801.

Any kind of help would be REALLY appreciated. I have no idea of what to do.

Thanks

Alessandro

Thanks for your suggestions. Before I start I can tell you that I have F-Secure Antivirus installed on the client and the F-Secure Antivirus Server for Exchange installed on the Exchange machine.

Now, after a lot of work I've found that the Information Store crashes always when a certain user connects to download e-mails via MAPI protocol.

I've purged the mailbox and now everything works again.

BUT (there is always a but...) if I log on the server as an administrator and try to use OWA with I get a blank windows split into two panes both of which display "The Page Cannot Be Found".

I've tried with IE and Firefox.

Under Internet Information Services IIS is working and the Exchange Virtual Directories are ok.

I suspect that the problem has been caused by a message as the one described with no subject.

Any kind of suggestion?

Thanks

Alessandro
