Hi,

Was hoping if anybody can help me with answering the following question:

For some time I have noticed that the Server data (Exchange server) and Local data (Outlook 2003) are out of sync. When clicking on the properties of the mailbox folder within Outlook followed by clicking on the button “Folder size..” under the general tab I clearly see that there is a difference of about 10 mb when comparing the “Server data” and the “Local data”.

I have searched and googled to find a way to sync the data but without luck. Hope somebody in this forum can help me? If I am not mistaken, if the local Hard disk would crash this will mean a loss of 10mb of important data?!

Many thanks,

AW

I normally us Outlook in online mode only, but to check your issue I setup offline mode. According to Exchange I have 977,736KB of mail. The brand new OST that I made says that I have 1,001,415KB of mail.

Comparing the mail in a single folder, it appears that the mail gets bloated by 500-2000B per item. I see just a few that have gotten smaller, but most are 2KB larger in the OST than they are in Exchange.

I don't think that you have any data loss, just a discrepency in how data is stored between Exchange and the OST file.

Thanks PScottC for your quick respons.

It looks like thats the case! Still very strange. I will manually check one folder and see if the same amount of emails are present.

Kind Regards,

AW
