A person external to our organization is trying to send an e-mail to XXXXX.XXXXXXXX@mnea.org. I am repsonsible for the mnea.org domain and e-mail server. Following is the error message being received when trying to send an e-mail to the mnea.org domain.

The original message was received at Wed, 4 Sep 2002 19:37:13 -0500
from dsl-1-374.dynamic.minn.net [216.177.145.118]

The sender is receiving this message whether the e-mail address is entered, selected from the address book, or a message sent to the individual is replied to.

Other people are able to send an e-mail to, or reply to e-mail from, XXXXX.XXXXXXXX@mnea.org without a problem. I am able to ping spider.tela.com and mail.tela.com without a problem.

If my understanding of the error message is correct, spider.tela.com is not relaying the message correctly.

Why is the @mnea.org e-mail address being used in an attempt to access spider.tela.com? Should the sender's e-mail address be used to access spider.tela.com?

Any suggestions as to what else should be checked, or any ideas what to look for would be greatly appreciated. I have requested full e-mail headers from the sender and should have them tomorrow and I will post them.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Do you have mnea.org SMTP address in your default recipients policy. You will need it there.

We finally got all of this straightened out today. minn.net was the ISP used by the organization that owned the domain name mnea.org before we did. spider.tela.com was the e-mail relay for MNEA.ORG

spider.tela.net stopped functioning as a relay for mnea.org when we bought the domain name, but minn.net was still forwarding e-mail for mnea.org to tela.com to be relayed. Since tela.com was refusing to relay the e-mail was bouncing.

Thanks for your help.
