Hi,

We have at present ms exchange 2000 running on windows 2000, we are in the process of upgrading ou domain from 2000 to 2003 and at the same time upgrading exchange to 2003. I have read somewhere that you cant run exchange 2003 on a windows 2000 and exhange 2000 on windows 2003. So is there a procedure in place or anything so we can upgrade our exchange.

Thanks in advance

If you can get another server, you can leapfrog the installs. You don't mention how many Exchange servers you have, but here is what I would do if I had a spare server.

Upgrade the domain to 2003.

Install a 2003 Server with Exchange 2003.

Migrate mailboxes from one of the 2000 servers to the new Exchange 2003 server.

Remove the 2000 Exchange server from the domain and rebuild / upgrade to 2003.

Reinstall Exchange 2003.

Move mailboxes back from the migration server to the freshly rebuild / upgraded server.

The first server you built does not have mailboxes on it now, so if you have other servers, you can do the same process over and over, using the spare server as the "migration" server.
