We have set up a ‘General Purpose Folder’ in Exchange to store archived emails that can be accessed through Outlook Web Access.

We have copied the files from the ‘Public Folders’ to the ‘General Purpose Folders’ using WebDAV and Explorer.

When viewing the posts in OWA, the post date shows the date the emails where copied over and not the actual email date.

Is there a way of correcting this?

How did you copy them from Public folders using WebDav and Explorer?

This was done with mapped network drives.

For example, setup drive S: to and setup drive T: to
When clicking on each drive, it shows the contents of the public and general purpose folders as files and folders in explorer and you can copy and paste between them.

OK, now I understand. What you are doing is not a good plan at all.

I would highly recommend that you unmap those drives and move emails using either Outlook or Outlook Web Access. Then the dates will be correct.

You can't view items in a General Purpose Folder using Outlook (or any MAPI client).

You also can't use OWA to move items from one stoarge group to another.

Thats why I'm using the mapped drives.
