Morning all,

I recently had to change the password on our file and mail servers. We log into each server as the administrator. Upon the password change, I am receiving the following error message in the Exchange Admin app - "A connection could not be made to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer. Microsoft Exchange directory: ID no: DS_E_COMMUNICATIONS_PROBLEM"

I realize the change in password in the NT account is different than in Exchange, and that this has to be done. But I can't get into my Exchange Admin, app, so how to I remedy this problem?

Any help would be great.

Rob

You need to sto pthe Exchange services, go to services and change the password for each service to the new password.

As a better solution, duplicate the administrator account, call it Exchange Admin and give it a password of about 10 characters with letters, numbers and punctuation. Then use that account for the services. Then you don't need to change the password on that account and can change the admin password without affecting email.

Thanks Zelandakh,

I just figured it out myself. I went into all of the services and changed the password and it works.

Thanks,

Rob

But implementing the new username will mean you don't need to do this every time you change the admin password...
