i'm setting up a test environment with win2k server and exchange 5.5. When i connect my win2k domain controller (named testserver) to my exchange server (mailserver) the end address for recipients is user@mailserver.testserver.com. Is there a way i can get it to just user@testserver.com? i'm sure there is but i just cant figure it out. thanks for your help.

John

You need to change this in SMTP settings to do this
Go to Exchange Systems Manager,
Navigate to Recipients, Recipient Policies.
Select the Default Policy and go to properties.
Go to E-Mail Addresses Tab.
Select SMTP and edit
There you can specify the "@testserver.com" instead of "@mailserver.testserver.com"
Then apply and restart Exchange Services.

Now any new user gets created will have the new domain name attached.

Exchange 5.5 is not managed using Exchange Systems Manager. The Exchange Administrator tool is used instead. To change the default SMTP address in Exchange 5.5 using Exchange Administrator, first highlight the Configuration container. On the right side of the window, highlight the Site Addressing object. Click on the Properties button with this object highlighted. Goto the Site Addressing tab and edit the SMTP email domain address. This is the default SMTP domain address for any mailbox that is created.
