Exchange could not contact AD

We use WINDOWS 2000 and Exchange 2000.
We have 2 DC. One of them PDC (DNS server (primary)) and the other BDC (DNS server (secondary)). When PDC gone, all computers, except Exchange, work without any problems. EXchange doesn't work.We can't start System Attendant. Code error message 1053.We think it's problem with AD.It look like Exchange couldn't contact with AD.
Help,please.
