Hi all

We are currently running Exchange with the MS pop3 mail connector. We are about to install a DSL line with router and then hang the server and clients from the switch.

Is it possible to use the pop3 connector with a DSL router? I am thinking that the pop3 connector is only for RAS connections. Is there any ways round this?

Many thanks for any replies

Hello!

We use a 3:rd party software (Popbeamer) to collect pop3 mail and then deliver them to the Exchange Server 5.5 Sp4. We have done this with both ISDN (RAS Connection) and now with DSL. It works just fine without changing the configuration.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions about our configuration let me know.

Cheers for the response

How is your Exchange server connected to the DSL line? Do you use a DSL router?

Cheers

I have one live IP. On this IP I have a Broadband gateway router from Netgear, FVS318. I have also used a USR8000 and Dlink 614+. They all work out fine.

As I said this router uses the live adress towards Internet and acts as a default gateway on our privat network.

The Exchange server is connected as any other computer on the privat network. To send mail I forward all mails to my ISP and to receive I use a Popcollector. I guess it is possible to open port 25 and direct it to my exchange server to make it possible to use it on the Internet.

This was a quick answer. Need to go now. Please ask another question if you have anytning else you wonder.
