We're running Commvault 5.0 (SP4) and for the most part everything appears to be running without any problems.

We have an exchange 5.5 server which is backed up on a daily basis without any problems at all. However, when I try to restore any mailbox information the restore request fails 99% of the time with an error message of "A timeout [600] seconds expired while waiting for a message from the client".

All other servers are fine - it's purely an issue with the Exchange 5.5 restores.

Originally I presumed that it was a load issue as on occasions a restore would prove successful. However, I'm no longer convinced thats the case as I've tried to schedule the restore overnight when the load on the server is minimal.

Please - anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Hi

Have you checked that any anti virus software is not causing the timeout....I know from experience that some AV products cause timeouts as they are scanning outbound files.

If this is the case then you need to enable your AV software to only scan incoming files.
