Has anyone performed an in place upgrade of an existing exchange 5.5 box running NT 4.0 to W2K? Money contraints make it impossible to purchase new server to begin fresh. I would prefer to stay on Exch 5.5 for now, but need to upgrade the o/s. I am looking for suggestions and experience before I begin. The Server is more than adequate for the task and we will be moving to all W2k Server environment before year end.

Any help to steer me in the right direction is appreciated

Thanks in advance,
Coffee

Works fine.. LDAP port must be changed first if you'll be using active directory.. Shutdown all Exchange services and put them on manual startup. Do the upgrade to Win2k, SP2 and post patches. Reset services to automatic, reboot and your done. Then if you want to manage exchange through AD you need to install the AD connector.

ComputerDR;

Thanks for the response and the tips about the services. It is good to know that it does work smoothly.

Cheers,
Coffee
