Hi,

We're migration exchange 5.5 to 2000. Everything works fine, but users on exchange 2000 are receiving external mail 1 hours or more after the exchange 5.5 users !?

Do I have to configure something on the Exchange 2k server ?

Thank you.

are you using smtp 0r pop3 ?

if your using pop3 possible your exchange 5.5 box is hogging the connection to your isp pop boxes, i.e staying connected to long and to often so the exchange 2K box rarley gets connected ?

oops forgot

and same for smtp ? are they connected to the same router?
there is only 1 port 25 ? if 5.5 has it then 2K cant use it

Thanks DG659,

we're using SMTP, the servers are connected on the same switch in the LAN, not directly to Internet, we have a firewall and DMZ config.

hmm

let me see if i get this right 2 boxes
NO1 5.5
No2 2K
both attched to a switch thats connected thru a fire wall
then onto a router ? if so can you port fwd to more than one private ip ?

or is it a DMZ port for each box ?

are both on the same email domain? if so the 1st to connect will pickup all mail for that domain so the mail could be sitting in the 5.5 box awaiting delvery to the 2K users

do both boxes Know of each others users ?

I'm waiting for response about the firewall config.

Both servers are on the same email domain (site/org), but during the migration how to setup two servers working togheter and dispatching external mail to the right server ?

Actually I only know that the 5.5 users are receiving external mail faster than 2K users.

Thank you

1st thing id do is disconnect the 5.5 box from the network
send a test mail to a 2k user and check the speed

if its fast then make a rule on the 5.5 to fwd unknown users on to the 2k box thru the lan

Hi,

I check the config of 5.5 server and in the connectors there's a internet mail service where the domain.com point on the ip address of 5.5 server.

where I can put the rule you're talking ?

Thank's again

easyiest way would be to use outlook
