Exchange 5.5 GAL replication over X400

I have set up a directory Replicator connector over an X400 link, but can only see the Configuration container in the remote site (It is Empty too).

Can anyone give me a hint of what I might have missed?

My aim is to get the remote site GAL into a central one, I thought it was going to be easy, huh!

Hi, are you able to email the remote site and can they do the same? I remember the replication of information taking approx 24hrs when we setup our x400 connector.

We do have mail traffic going over the connector, so maybe we should just leave it to settle.

I take it the approach is sound? I was told earlier that the Directory Replicator wouldn't replicate the GAL entries / recipients and that we would need external software; Do you know if that is true? - Hope not...

Hi, GAL entries will be replicated between sites - there is no need for external software.

One point to mention on the messaging connectivity. When testing you will need to send a message to a recipient in the other site using an x400 address as no entries will be available from the GAL. You will need to define a custom address of type x400 in your personal address book then enter values shown in the recipient's x400 address in their mailbox.

I take it you configured replication at the remote site when your site was done.

Replication is configured both ends.

After this has completed, can I add a seperate organisation using the same method? I need to get share the GAL of both Organisations, and use the same SMTP addresses (If possible without a rebuild before June 1st).

You can send mail between orgs via x400 connector, but you can not natively replicate directories between orgs in 5.5. There is a util called the InterOrg tool from MS, which uses smtp I think. Other options are directory export\import, LDSU from Compaq (excuse me, HP), SimpleSync - I'm sure there are some others too.
