I'm planning a migration from NT4 to 2003 AD and I'm interested to know how this will affect my Exchange 5.5 server (running on 2k). Plans for an Exchange 5.5 to 2003 migration are still well off in the distance.

I plan to have an NT4 domain running in tandem with my 2003 AD and slowly moving users over to the new domain. There will be a trust set up between the NT4 domain and the 2003 AD.

If I migrate the SIDs along with the user accounts does this ensure that they will still have access to their mailboxes on the Exchange 5.5 server which is still part of the NT4 domain?

If I join the 5.5 server to the 2003 AD domain as a member server does this break anything.

Thanks for any advice or help.

So long as you have a 2 way trust in lpace Exchnage will be OK and Mailbox access unaffected, but when you move Exchange 5.5 into AD there are a few things you need to do.

Review M/S KB article Q271589

Thanks for the reply chester27 and the helpful information. I wasn't able to find that particular KB article but I'll keep looking. I imagine it is similar to other articles dealing with the ADC and Exchange 5.5.
