Exchange 2007 Document level backup running at 13 mb

We are backing up an Exchange 2007 server with Arcserve r11.5 SP3 premium add-on for Exchange. The document level backup is taking over 14 hours to complete. It starts at around 300 MB per minute on the through put then drops down over a period of time to between 13 MB per min to 17 MB per min.

The following was recorded from last nights backup:

DBAEXSIS\First Storage Group Through put 13.04
DBAEXDBVSS\Second Storage Group Through put 313.24
DBAEXDBVSS\First Storage Group Through put 303.54

The antivirus has been checked and reconfigured.

Update to this issue:

When the McAffee GroupShield for Exchange service is stopped the backup is running at 331.48 MB/Per min if the service is started during the backup the throughput rate gradually drops down to 14. MB/Per min, if the service is once again stopped the throughput of the job picks up again but holds steady at around 200 MB/per min.
Just need to figure out a way round this issue.

if the McAffe application can be disabled/enabled via command line then perhaps a Per/Post command will work for you.
