When trying to backup the mailbox store and public folder store, I get these errors....and nothing else is backing it up when it happens. I dont have this problem on the exch 2k server in this site that I just migrated all these mailboxes from.

from veritas report:

Error, Unable to open \ because it is currently being backed up by another process.
WARNING: "\\JEFFGREENE\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (JEFFGREENE)" is a corrupt file.
This file cannot verify.
Database or database element is corrupt

1. Make sure you are not selecting both the Storage groups under Shadow Copy Components and the Information Store/Mailboxes - just deselect the Shadow Copy Components.

if that doesn't work..

2. Install Exchange 2003 SP1 onto the server - which should resolve the issue for you.

wasnt slandering, but it turned out to be that i was backing up the system state which was throwing the error. but....i will say that veritas support wasnt very helpful, and that one of their own tech support people didn't figure that out, even when in the machine in a webex session. but i am happy as all is working now.

I have run into the same error. However i only have the information store and im still getting the same error.

Please help

could be your antivirus is scanning directories that it shouldnt....exchange directories, or the login used to run the jobs doesnt have proper exchange permissions....need to set these in exch admin.

Thanks for the quick response!
I just now rebooted the exchange server and now i am getting great throughput. Not real sure why it wasnt working before but now its all good.

Thanks again
