Can I have Exchange 2000 System Manager on more than one server? I have 3 domain controllers, and the one that has the System Manager on it is unstable and I would like to be able to use my other two to add new users with exchange mailboxes etc... I was not here when this was installed, so I need instruction on how to load the system manager on the other servers, if it is possible

Thanks

Don't put it on servers, put it on your workstation.

Just run the Exchange 2000 setup from your CD, select a 'Custom install' and select to install only the Microsoft Exchange System Management Tools.

Don't forget to service pack the install when you've finished!

Hi,
My workstation is Windows Xp and when I tried to do the install it won't do it because it is looking for the windows 2000 administrative tools.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply

Yeah, there's a patch from MS to trick the Exchange setup routine in to accepting the 2003 Admin Tools if you have them handy.

XADM: You Receive an Error Message When You Try to Install Exchange System Manager on a Windows XP-Based Computer

You basically make sure you're on XP SP1, install the patch, install the Exchange System Management tools, and install the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Administration Tools (adminpack.msi).

Hope it helps!

Thanks SteveBurkett,

Took some digging, but works like a charm

I gave you a star!!

Have a great weekend.
