Hi

I am running Exchange 2000 and I have hit the 16GB mailbox store limit. I have compacted the database and archived some data but I need to provide a long term solution.

Is there any way that I can add an extra mailbox store?

Once I have dome this what do I need to do to persuade Exchange to use it?

regards

Jules

Exchange 2000 Standard only supports one store. To go beyond the 16GB limit or add more stores, you need to upgrade to Exchange 2000 Enterprise.

Upgrading to enterprise would be the best long term solution, but if that is not possible due to costs, think about implementing mailbox quotas. Quotas on email are generally not too popular, but very effective. The other option would be to add a second Exchange 2000 Standard server, but this would likely end up costing more than an upgrade to Enterprise.

Also, you might want to check on the mailboxe sizes and see if a small group of users are taking up a large percentage of the space. There's always a few with 1GB+ mailbox.

The long terma solution is either, as stated above by wallst32, to upgrade to Enterprise, or the implement restriction on the users.
