My Exchange 2000 has reached around 14GB. I asked the users to delete emails . I pointed some users mailbox to their local machine. Still the database is showing 14gb.
Do I have to run Eseutil??
I was under the impression that exchange automatically defraged nightly
What are my options. Upgrade to 2003 sp2?
thanks
Sam

You need to run the eseutil to reduce the DB size

Either impose mailbox size limits on your users, or upgrade.

eseutil /d is the only way to shrink the database but 14GB even on Standard isn't going to stop working. Don't shrink it, check the 1221 events for white space and monitor it.
