I want to copy some cells with a formulas from file-1 to another file file-2, copying the formulas over. In the end I just got the values calculated by a formula in a new file -2 but not the formula itself. In the first file-1 in a formulas I am using field names given by me. I understand that copying in a new file the field names (created in File-1) won't be be created the new file-2 automatically (orl it will be?) , but at least the formula should be copied over, I will create the field names later.
I know that earlier I am used a PASTE SPECIAL options and I could choose how to do the copy process, just formulas, just values etc... ,This time if I choose PASTE SPECIAL, it is asking me :
PASTE AS: - Microsoft Exceel Worksheet Object
- Picture
- Bitmap
- Microsoft Excell 8 Format
- Bif 5
etc...
How to do the copy-paste process to copy over the calculated formula with a cell?

If you are copying excel > excel, you should be able to use Pastespecial > Formulas Rgds

XLBO, if you've read my problem above, I alreday decsribed what's happening when I try to us a PASTE SPECIAL and that's the following:

PASTE AS: - Microsoft Exceel Worksheet Object
- Picture
- Bitmap
- Microsoft Excell 8 Format
- Bif 5
etc...
I am copying from Excell to Excell, and PASTE SPECIAL gave me the above mentioneD choice.
As you see, there is no any PASTE SPECIAL->FORMULA in that menu
I already tried to open an empty file, defined some fields with a formula, and tried to use paste special-formula copy in another empty file. In that case I got different menu paste-special choice, copying with a "FORMULA"
In my first case, I've used some user defined functions in file I intended to copy.(small VBA program)l. Is it possible that it is the reason I got different menu during copying ?

XLBO is right, except that those options in Excel are available when copying within the same instance of Excel. It sounds like you've opened 2 instances of Excel, instead of opening the 2 files from the same Excel session.

Glenn.

Aaaaah - to copy a user defined function, you need to copy the CODE into a new module within the new workbook - you can't just copy the formula 'cos the reference is only valid for that workbook (unless it's stored in Personal.xls) Rgds

It looks GlennUK was right, I have to open just 1 session in Excell, during the copying, not two. It's working now.
Thanks Glenn, and also to you Geoff, that you spent time to think about my problem.
