Hi all,
I have a need to use comments to produce effectively a pop-up image. I found the following instructions after some playing around and frustration:
1. Select a cell, right click, select Insert a Comment.
2. Hover your cursor over the cell border until it turns into a four-headed
arrow. Right click, select Format Comment.
3. Select the Colors and Line tab.
4. Click the Fill Color drop down menu and select Fill Effects.
5. Select the Picture tab.
6. Click Select Picture.
7. Go to the directory that holds your graphics/pictures. Select the
graphic/picture that you want displayed. Click OK, OK, OK.
---
In #7 above I'm actually using a url to an image on my website. What I'm finding out is that Excel, by using the above, is actually saving the image into the comment, and the Excel spreadsheet is growing since the image sizes can be large.
I'm trying to find a way so that the comment opens, references a pic on my website, but does not save it in the Excel sheet itself. I guess a sort of preview image rather than one contained within the spreadsheet itself.
Any ideas?
