MS Excel - user is dragging and dropping a button to his Standard Toolbar. If he exits Excel and returns to it the desired button is no longer displayed. Checked through the settings, wondering if there is something that is restoring the toolbars to default on startup??

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Custom toolbars are stored in a file called Excel.xlb. This file should self generate when changes are made to the toolbars.

Default location (on 2000, anyway) is
C:\Documents and Settings\User's Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel

Try deleting the file and then make a change to the toolbar.

Deleted the file indicated as instructed. Went back into Excel, added button, exited Excel. Restarted, button was not there. Renamed the file and retried above process. Still had the problem. I suspect there is a setting somewhere that is telling Excel to revert to default settings rather than saving them. Can anyone advise? Thanks.
