In Excel, whatever version, is there a way to update a column of static number values? Let me explain: I have a Whole Goods Price List for a particular machine we build slapped into Excel. On the sheet, there is a list of options and their prices. Our Sales department wants to be able to enter a percentage somewhere on the sheet, and have all prices update by this value. I'm straining my brain, and I can't figure out if this is even possible. The prices are manually entered values, and there would be no external sheets involved. This also would be the sheet that gets printed out for our Dealers to quote off of.

One way I can think of accomplishing this is to change the price values into formulas multiplying themselves by a cell containing a percentage - ie "=52200*$L$38". That would do the trick, but it requires a formula.

Can someone more knowledgeable in Excel help me? Thanks!

To increase the price, enter the percentage + 1 into a cell (so to increase by 10%, enter 1.1 into a blank cell
Copy it
Select your prices
Edit>PasteSpecial choose "Values" & "Multiply"
et voila

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

If you want to increase prices by 4%:
[ul][li]Type 104% into one cell[/li]
[li]Copy that cell[/li]
[li]Select the cells containing the prices[/li]
[li]Right click[/li]
[li]choose Paste Special[/li]
[li]click Values and Multiply[/li]
[li]Click OK[/li][/ul]

I hate it when I click on "Submit" instead of "Preview".

I was going to check to see if someone had already answered.

Oh well.

a whole 4 minutes too late John - what kept ya ? ;-)

your list looks nicer though - if you hadn't bothered with all the formatting you would've probably beaten me to it !!

Thanks go to BOTH of you guys for helping me out. I had actually thought it had something to do with Past Special... but I just couldn't recall. Wonderful!
