Excel random number generator? 1

Hey all,

I need to build a spreadsheet that will choose one of 185 numbers (the numbers are ID numbers). I can use the random number generator, but how do I populate a range with the choices that I need? The end purpose is for statistical reporting that we are being required to do. I had thought about just doing a "if between X and Y choose one" and increment X and Y, but we also have accuracy standards we need to meet.

Joe,

Based on your description, I've taken a stab at creating a model that I believe achieves your objectives.

I've set it up so that you can enter whatever ID numbers you have. Opposite your ID numbers, the cells are named to coincide with the random numbers generated, and a count is made of the number of times each ID number is chosen. This is probably a little difficult to grasp without seeing the actual model.

Hey all,

I've been corresponding with Dale for a couple of weeks now. I've had him change his original design three or four times (lack of communication on my part) and now I have a spreadsheet that not only does what I was hoping it would do, but he also included a second sheet that receives the numbers as in a report. Thank you very much Dale!!! If I have any other program design needs I will definitely contact you again!
