Hi,

I have a series pie charts created using pivot charts in Excel 2000 with page fields set up to allow the user to select which categories of data to show on the chart.

I have changed the chart's formatting to include data labels on the pie chart.

When the user chooses an option from the page field, the pie chart is re-drawn, and the data labels are lost.

Is there any way to preserve chart formatting options when the selection changes on pivot charts?

Thanks for any help...

Ade,

Macro record the formatting that you want. Run the macro after the data refresh event.

Skip,

Thanks for such a quick answer - is using macros / vba the only way?

If so then fine, seems like something Microsoft could improve on...!

I think that 2003 preserves chart formatting.
