Excel opens 2 files in 1 workbook 1

When I open more than one spreadsheet they open in the same workbook, which then makes it difficult to flick between the two. It never used to do this. Can anyone help I would be very grateful..

Go to Tools=>Options. Under the "View" tab make sure that "Windows in Taskbar" is checked.
