I have no idea what else to do. all of the other programs in the office suite work perfectly. excpet excel which is the program that matters here. PLEASE HELP TODAY

First, if Excel 2000, go to the Help menu and run Detect and Repair.

Otherwise, with Excel closed

1. Find the XLSTART folder for the user and make sure there's no files in it--remove any, at least temporarily.

2. Go to Start-Run and type regedit and hit Enter. Browse to:

hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\office\9.0\excel

9.0 for Excel 2000
8.0 for Excel 97
10.0 for Excel XP

and rename the excel folder to OldExcel.
