Excel Line-Chart Formating Question

I build simple line charts in Excel. Three fields: Production, Projection, and Goal by month. Sometimes they overlap.

Often Goal, Proj, and Prod are the same number. I always want Production on top and it rarely is, I have to put a dot to show Production on top.

Can anyone assist in ordering values on a line chart?

Ken

Change the series order...

Rgds, Geoff

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Please read FAQ222-2244 before you ask a question

Geoff,

Please spell it out click by click. I can't find it in my Office 2003 Sp2.

I can't even find it using "Excel Help" Below:

Plot data series from worksheet rows or columns.

Click the chart.
On the Chart menu, click Source Data, and then click the Data Range tab.
Click Series in rows or Series in columns.

By the way my Excel is in a PowerPoint presentation if it make a difference.

Thanks....

Select the chart.

Select any series.

Format > Selected Data Series -- Series Order Tab

From Excel Help:

Change the plotting order of data series

1. Click a data series in the chart you want to change.

To change the plotting order of data series in a surface chart, click a legend key.

2. On the Format menu, click Selected Data Series or Selected Legend Key, and then click the Series Order tab.
Note Selected Data Series or Selected Legend Key is only available on the Format menu when a data series or legend is selected.

In the Series order box, click the series you want to move.
To place the series in the order you want, click Move Up or Move Down.
Tip You can also use this procedure to change the order in which data series are displayed in a stacked chart.

Cheers, Glenn.

Thank you all. All were correct, BUT... the Excel module in PowerPoint does not have the "Series Order Tab" function, it has the following tabs: "Patterns, Axis, Y Error Bar, Data Labels and Option.

That seem to be the difference, I need to copy an actual Excel into PowerPoint.

Thanks Again.

Ken

No. You are wrong, I believe. An Excel object inside Powerpoint does have the Series Order tab. I'd guess you've added a MS Charting object, ( or Graph object ), and not an Excel one.

Cheers, Glenn.

How did you PASTE the object into PowerPoint? It makes a difference.
