Excel function parameter hints not displaying

I'm doing some Excel stuff on my computer at home, which I never do, and I'm trying to do some financial calculations. On my work machine, when I type a function name into a cell and get to the "(" character, it pops up a list of the parameters it expects, sort of like as Alt text in the background. I don't want to have to bring up the formula window every time I use one, I just want the hints when I type one into the cell. I can't figure out how to turn this on.

Anyone know?

Hi BillLumbergh,

I don't know about making it happen automatically, but if you press <Ctrl><Shift><A> after typng the left parenthesis you should see the prompts.

I'm thinking that the tooltips are not available on Office 2000. My work machine has Office XP but I've only got 2000 at home. I'm pretty sure I looked under Tools -> Options and didn't have that choice. Can anyone confirm?

I can't see the option in 2000 either, and I've always used the key combo to bring it up because I didn't think there was any other way.
