I have a web page on our intranet that has a link to an excel spreadsheet. When I open it from my workstation (WinXP, office 2003) it will prompt to save when I close it. If I do it from another workstation, it does not prompt to save, and all changes are lost. I noticed on the "non saving" workstation that it is launching in its own window instead of the active IE window. Is there a way I can change this on the other workstation? They are both on WinXP with Office 2003. Thanks.

Excel from web page

Is the file in a local folder on your machine, or in a shared network folder? Is the file open on one machine when you are opening it on another machine? I'm just thinking that this may have something to do with security and/or file sharing issues.

The file is sometimes open by others, but not in this case. I can close it on the "non saving machine" and then go over to another machine and have it work fine only seconds later. The file is stored on a file server, and was fully accessible to this user prior to upgrading his machine. He is the manager of the department, and makes changes to the sheet every day. For now I have him opening the sheet up via Excel, and not the web page, but he would like to have it work through the web. Thanks.
