Excel- Freezing titles

Can this be done in Excel (office 97). In other words the first row of the sheet contains the title of the columns.I want to be able to scroll down and still see the first row.
In Works I can highlight the first row and choose Format>Freeze Titles.

Click and highlight row 2, then click "Window", "Freeze Panes".
 
Yes. If you want to Freeze Row 1 and Column A, you would go to cell B2 and the go to Window, Freeze Panes.

If you just want to Freeze Row 1 then cell B1 and Window, Freeze Panes......etc
