I often paste stuff into Excel from other sources that have the following format 6-6 and Excel changes to June 6. Is there anyway to change excel so that it doesn't try to reformat the 6-6 to June 6?
Problem is - if you paste then you overwrite formats. If you pastespecial, excelo doesn't recognise that there is delimited data
I would go for pasting special and then using Text To Columns - you should be abloe to RECORd the text to columns procedure using Tools>Macro>Record New Macro so that you can automate it...

Excel is a right royal pita when it comes to 'helping' you like this. One option you may have is to paste it into Notepad, create a text file and then use the Text import wizard with whatever delimiters you have, specifying that column as text. Roundabout, but if it helps....
