Our virus scanner is rejected several excell attachments stating there is some harmful macro contained within.....

I've checked the toos/macro button and see no macros.

Yet when I go "Save As" I get:
An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Would you like to repair this feature now?.

How do I find out what is driving this? Where else can I check? Is there some cell that links to an external something or other? How can I check that?

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Can't really say what the problem is but if you trust the sender I would suggest they try zipping the files and resending them. Our virus scanner won't accept MS Access files and this the way we get around the problem.

It may be that there is a blank module still attached to the workbook

In excel, press Alt+F11 to get to the Vis Basic Editor and have a look for any modules attached to the workbook in there

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

xlbo,

interesting.....thaks for the tip.

It is indeed a microsoft visual basic error I'm getting, but I see no empty objects.

I've checked the "This Workbook" properties against other excel files without the problem and see no differences.

Any other places I can look?

Thanks,

hmmm - that's all I can think of for a Visual Basic error - for links, try searching for .xls within the FIND feature, ensuring that you are looking in "formulas"

Other than that, sounds like it may just be a corrupt workbook issue...

If there are links to external workbooks they should appear under Edit Menu\Links.... (Though I have had links shown in the past which had previously been deleted)

Fenrirshowl,

You are a star! That's it.

How can I remove those links?

Thanks,
Dan
