Excel file disappears 1

an excel document was open when error occurred:- 'xxxx.xls' could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct. If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files on the file menu, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted. OK

i have searched technet and couldnt find an answer anyone got any ideas?

is Excel 97 on NT4.0

I've had this before - usually caused by a temporary loss (or major slowdown) of the network - usually NT. Excel "forgets" where the file is. Usually fine if you just re-open the file from the network location using File-Open method
