I have some code that creates a desktop shortcut. Problem is if the shortcut already exists on my desktop I don't want the button to be visible. How can I return a boolean
value to determine this?

A shortcut is just a file on the desktop and the desktop is just a folder under c:\windows. So, assuming you know the name of the shortcut, you should be able to use the FileSearch object to see whether the shortcut exists.
