I have to do a lot of copying and pasting from one excel sheet to another and sometimes I have to copy sheets into word.

The problem I have is that when ever i try to paste the sheet into another sheet I allways get a message saying the the data isn't the same size.

Is it possible to copy from one sheet or paste into another and maintain the size of the cells so that I get an exact duplicate of the sheet I have just copied from.

Thanks

You should only get this message if you try and highlight the same number of cells to paste into as you have copied (but don't quite get it right) ie you copy A1:D12 and select A1:D11 to paste into. Copy your selection and then select the cell that is in the top left of where you want to paste and then paste. You shouldn't receive that message if you do this

Thanks Geoff

That was what I was looking for. the mistake I always made was that i always clicked in the first cell of the sheet and then pasted.

Thanks again.

contactcp,

I'd like to make "contact" with you, but because you haven't marked this thread for email notification, I suspect I might NOT be able to make "contact".

The reason... to let you in on some "inside information" - regarding the "proper" method of thanking a contributor such as Geoff.

The Tek-Tips creators recognize that the contributors do NOT receive any kind of "payment" for the time they take in helping to resolve the problems of others. Therefore, they set up a simple system of "awarding of STARS". Simple but effective - and "appreciated" by the contributors as a form of "recognition" for the time and effort they spend.

The method of issuing a STAR is simple - just click on the "Click here to mark this post as a helpful or expert post!" - located in the lower-left-corner of the contributor's posting.

Because you don't have this posting marked, please allow me to issue a STAR to Geoff on your behalf.

PLEASE do NOT issue a star for my posting, as I want to "earn" stars in the normal manner. Thanks.
