Question: Can this application be done in Excel without using macros?
How many larger boxes are needed?
Designated size of all larger boxes = example 4 sq-units each (2x2)
Have the following
1. 4 smaller boxes 1x1
2. 4 smaller boxes 1x0.5
3. 12 smaller boxes 0.5x0.5
4. 17 smaller boxes 0.25x0.25
Answer: 3 larger boxes (2x2) with .75 sq-units (.25x3) remaining
The number & size of smaller boxes vary with every application. The larger box size varies with application but is known.
I am looking for optimal fill potential and number of larger box count. If this is possible in Excel (no macros)please steer (nudge) me in the right direction.
Any help is appreciated.
