I have some statistical data imported into an Excel sheet from an Access Query. The data from the Query is updated each time the file is open and new data is appended to the data series. I want to create a graph in Excel that updates when the data updates and only displays the last 100 data points. Is there any way to do this?

John - Perfect! That did exactly what I wanted to do. I now have a dynamic graph for all data enterd since day one and continually updated and another graph that only plots the last 100 data points. It is much easier to do my stats at a glance with these graphs.

Perfect!

Glad to help.
[cheers]

I once had a coworker who manually updated over 40 charts every week for a single report (data broken out by district/region). Once I discovered and shared the wonders of Dynamic Charting, the time required to maintain those charts went from about 2 hours per week down to a matter of seconds!

I just took on this project and I had a coworker who manually updated both data and the charts in 100s of worksheets; no joke 100s. I have now automated all of our analytical tools to populate a Database I created and am now woking on autopopulating all of the management tracking sheets, out of which they graph just about everything on a weekly basis. I will soon have it essentially maintenance free so that the data is populated and graphs self updating! I have already incorporated your suggestions to make sure it will work. Now I just have "oh" a hundered or so graphs and spread sheets to update.

Cheers!

....just remember that the more you automate, the more work your boss will give you to fill the gaps you've created in your work schedule !

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Good one! That is the problem with LEAN. We should call it POYJ - Phase Out Your Job.
