I'm copying text from a web page into an excel spreadsheet. Certain fields [like team records (1-1-0)] get transformed into a date (01/01/2000). Is there anyway to keep Excel from doing that?

I'm unable to paste the text (Paste Special) as anything other than HTML or the column formatting gets screwed up.

If you are copying and pasting one cell at a time just click on cell, type ',then paste.

I'm doing more than one cell at a time... Any other solutions?

Not sure how you are copying into multiple cells, but one way is to copy it to note pad then open the notepad txt file in excel. It will propmt you for delimited information and check text for that column.

The other way is to just paste the info in there, and then format the cells for text. I can't remember if you need to do that first or last though.
