Hello all

I have Excel 97 installed on a Windows 2000 Pro machine with the user having only standard user rights ont he local machine.

When this user goes to open a file that consists of macro's she gets the error message "Permission to use object denied (Error 419)".

If I add her to the "Power users" local group and get her to try it she is abe to open the file ok . Problem is , I don't want anyone to be in the "Power Users" group and I don't know what reg key or file she is able to access when she is a power user so I can just edit the acl on that one key to match the power users group.

Any help much appreciated.

It is with any file with macros within. But don't worry, I have found a fix.

The fix is to give the "Users" group "modify" and "write" perms to the "C:\winnt\system32" folder and it seems to work fine.

Not an ideal solution I know but it is better than making the all the users a member of the "power users" local group.

Thanks for the response though.

Regards

J
