Is there a way of moving the cursor in the define name 'Refers to:' field. Any attempt to press cursor keys results in a reletive address being inserted rather than moving along the field

Thanks
Georg

What about FIRST highlighting the cell, cells, or range of cells, and THEN activating the Define Name window. This will place the cell coordinates you have highlighted into the "Refers to" box.

This is what I normally do...
1) Highlight the cell or range of cells
2) Hold down the <Control> key and hit <F3>
3) Type the name
4) Hit Enter

If you want to modify an EXISTING name, try using the MOUSE to highlight the coordinate that requires changing, and then type the change.

Hope this helps :)

I can change anything in the visible portion, but if there is a long formula that scrolls out of the box, there is no easy way to get to the middle bit. If you use the mouse, it dashes off to either end but u can't step along to the bit u need! I get aroung it by copying the whole text to a cell, then editing it, then pasting it back to the ref box, but it's a bit cumbersome.

If all else fails...try again...

The solution is the use of the "EDIT" key <F2>.

After clicking on the range name, and then clicking in the "Refers to" box, hit <F2>.

You will then be able to use:
<End> to get to the far right,
<Home> to get back to the far left,
<Control> <Right-Arrow> to move right in a "Tab" way,
<Control> <Left-Arrow> to move left in a "Tab" way.

Hope this is what you were looking for. :)

P.S. Most importantly, you'll be able to FREELY edit the cell coordinates WITHOUT Excel acting in a "relative mode" where it follows your cursor. :)

Thanks mate - thats the one I'm looking for. I had tried shft F2 to try & bring it up as it does in Access, but that was no good

Cheers
